Are you ready to buy the new Tata Nano?
CNN IBN States that
Tata plans to give the car to the dealers for Rs 1 lakh. You will pay a value added tax or vat of Rs 12,500, a road tax of Rs 4,000 and an insurance of about Rs 3,500.
And all of this total up to Rs 1,20,000 on the road price.
But if you take a car loan, how much will it cost you in EMI's?
If you get a loan of Rs one lakh for five years then you will have to pay about Rs 2,200 per month.
But then Its scary to even think of the already chocking Indian roads. Now every Tom,dick and Hari in India will think of getting into his own new car and take it for a spin.
This article puts it aptly:"With Cars in Reach, Indians Must Learn to Drive"
I wonder if the Govt even considered the after effects of such a car in India. Its okay to market such a car in countries where the roads are ready to take it,but to proudly introduce it in an already traffic problem laden Indian roads is utter stupidity. With the BPO crowd and even the fresh Software Engineers earning close to 2 Tata Nanos a month in salaries,it wouldn't take even 2 months for these folks to get their hands onto one or 2 of these cars.I pity the Bangalore roads!
Just add a few Nano's to this already crazy driving routine. Its mind boggling to even think of the number of extra accidents and hold ups it would cause.
So,I guess a lot of people might be thinking of saying Byebye to the Indian roads considering the onslaught of these not so Nanos.
